Doug was born and raised in Johnstown’s historic Cambria City neighborhood and now resides in Brownstown Borough where he has lived since 1986. Doug has been happily married to his wife Maureen for over 40 years and they are proud parents of three terrific kids: Kristy, Kayla, and Doug, sons-in-law, Zach and Andy, and granddaughters, Cassidy Quinn and Madison Maureen.
Doug has earned many achievements including the Retirement Income Certified Professional (RICP) Designation, Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) Designation and the Certification in Long-Term Care (CLTC) Designation. He is also a member of GAMA (General Agents & Management Association), Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) and Leader’s Conference Qualifier, Johnstown Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisers (NAIFA).
Doug is active in his community. As a Member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, Brownstown, he has served as President of the Parish Council for over 25 years. In 2010, He was awarded the Prince Gallitzin Cross Award by the Altoona Johnstown Catholic Diocese, as a way of recognizing those who exhibit the “evangelizing spirit” of the Prince-Priest Demetrius A. Gallitzin. Doug was honored for leading renovations at the parish and serving in many other ministries. In 2015, he was awarded the Paul E. Martin Community Service Award from Ohio National Financial Services, which recognizes those who best exemplify the life insurance professional while displaying a passion for others and leadership abilities that make a positive impact on their community.
Doug is a member Brownstown Golf Association. He is also a former President of Brownstown Recreation Committee. Doug is a Certified Advanced Open Water Diver (National Association of Underwater Instructors) N.A.U.I. 1994.
Doug volunteers his time with the Discover Downtown Johnstown Partnership’s Board of Directors. A Non-profit organization, actively working on several initiatives focused on making Downtown Johnstown a more inviting place to welcome and attract customers, businesses, residents, visitors, and investors. He and the family and friends of Puchko Financial clean up the neighborhood in Operation Clean Sweep each Spring. He chairs the Taste & Tour Rediscover Downtown Johnstown event, an annual event that showcases what our downtown businesses have to offer the Greater Johnstown Community. In 2015, he worked with the board to fundraise over $100,000 and physically assemble the brand-new Christmas Tree at Central Park. A 40-foot-tall Christmas tree, with LED lights programmed with full animation to Christmas music, providing enjoyment and bringing more holiday magic to those walking through Central Park. He continually strives to bring interesting and fun things to do in Johnstown.
Doug serves on the Board of Directors for the Cambria Regional Chamber, a leading community organization dedicated to creating an environment where business growth and the quality of life are maximized. He is the chairman of the Small Business Council, helping to organize their Small Business In Your Own Backyard. Doug and his family have sponsored and participated in the local Walk to End Alzheimer’s year after year since 2009, in honor of his late father, Steve, “Pappy” Puchko.

Doug and Maureen were members of Sunnehanna Country Club, where Doug attempts to improve his golf game. They love spending time with Cassidy Quinn (or as Pap calls her “the Peanut”) and Madison Maureen (“Munchkin”), family, and friends. They are also die-hard Pittsburgh Steeler and Pittsburgh Penguins fans.
Doug has earned many different licenses including Series 6 & 63 license, Property & Casualty license.
